Jalen Duren gets murky next contract amount projection with Pistons

Jalen Duren is projected to draw an annual salary of over $30 million on his next contract, though the exact figure has yet to be determined.

The Detroit Pistons will face questions and pressure on how they will be able to deal with Jalen Duren and the big man's restricted free agency status heading to the 2026 NBA offseason.

After a promising regular season and an eventual nightmare NBA Playoff campaign, all eyes are on the Pistons' level of intent to hammer out a new contract with the 22-year-old big man.

In the wake of a looming negotiation between both sides, Duren is projected to draw an annual salary of over $30 million in his next contract, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

"Sources around the league say they believe Jalen Duren will get more than $30 million per year. The question for Detroit is how big that number will get," Bontemps wrote in his latest report.

Jalen Duren, Pistons facing a huge contract offseason decision

Duren delivered a sensational season for Detroit this 2025-26, earning himself his first career All-Star and All-NBA nods. Averaging a career-best 19.5 points in 65 percent shooting with 10.5 rebounds, he anchored Detroit's 60-win season and a top-seed finish in the Eastern Conference standings.

But as the NBA Playoffs began, Duren shockingly became nowhere to be seen for the Pistons. He only averaged 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds, as Cade Cunningham was left the only one to carry the load for Detroit throughout the postseason.

Duren will become eligible to sign a five-year max deal worth a projected $287.1 million. As such, it remains to be seen how he and the Pistons will reach an agreement for a potential new contract.
