PORTER GOLF EVENT
Nick Herbig and Darnell Washington are the most recent Steelers to earn contract extensions. However, the team still has several players looking for deals, including Joey Porter Jr., who was holding in during mandatory minicamp. Porter is one of the Steelers’ brightest young players, and his father was a legend with the team, too, so they’d probably be wise to retain him.
Porter and his father recently hosted a celebrity golf event, and several former and current Steelers were in attendance, as Steelers History shared on Twitter. It’s nice to see father and son working together with other figures from the team. Herbig was there, so perhaps he gave the younger Porter some tips about how to get a deal done with the Steelers.
PITTMAN FISHING
The Steelers added several players this offseason, upgrading their roster. Michael Pittman Jr. was one of their most notable acquisitions. He was the Indianapolis Colts’ top wide receiver for several years, and now, he’ll pair up with DK Metcalf in Pittsburgh. While Pittman is still relatively new to Pittsburgh, he’s finding some ways to enjoy himself off the field.
Saddletramp Bait Co. posted a video on YouTube where they took Pittman fishing on Pittsburgh’s three rivers. It looks like the receiver had a good time. Western Pennsylvania has some nice fishing spots, so Pittman should be able to get his fill in his home.
FORMER IOWA PLAYERS TOGETHER
Omar Khan had a busy draft this year, adding 10 players to the Steelers’ roster. While he’s had his misses, Khan has been relatively successful as the team’s general manager, adding several solid young pieces to Pittsburgh’s team.
That includes several players who attended the University of Iowa, and they all took a picture together at a recent practice. Kaden Wetjen, Logan Lee, Yahya Black, Gennings Dunker, Kaleb Johnson, Sebastian Castro, and Brandon Smith all attended Iowa, and now they’re with the Steelers. While Khan didn’t add them because they’re from Iowa, it goes to show how much talent that program has produced.
