Chelsea‘s Marc Cucurella insists he’s happy at the Premier League side amid claims of interest from Spain.
In recent weeks, there’s been numerous reports from Spain of the left-back’s uncertain future at Chelsea.
On June 4th, Sport Witness relayed news that the 27-year-old feels his time at Stamford Bridge has come to an end. Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City have all expressed interest.
Four days ago, we covered claims that Manchester United have joined the Etihad club and La Liga duo in the race for the Spain international.
Chelsea player top target for Atlético
Friday’s edition of AS further backs up Los Rojiblancos’ interest in the 27-year-old.
Their big plan for the summer it’s to strengthen both their left-back position and midfield. For the former, Marc Cucurella is the main target.
Atlético Madrid earlier thought his signing would be more complicated, but it isn’t the case now.
They believe lack of European football next season at the west London club would favour them.
Diego Simeone’s side, who are handling other options, are aware they need a significant investment to sign the Chelsea player.
Blues man quizzed about future
The fullback is part of the national team squad at the World Cup. He spoke to El Partidazo de Cope and Sport have relayed his comments.
Marc Cucurella spoke about several topics and was also asked about the recent claims of Chelsea exit this summer.
“Right now, I don’t want to talk about that. I’m very happy at Chelsea, but I haven’t wanted to know anything about it for a while,” he said.
“I want to enjoy this because it could be my first and last time here (at a World Cup), I want to enjoy this and that’s it.”
This should come calm things down about his potential exit in the coming weeks.
On his preference between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona, Cucurella explained: “No, no. I’ll pass.”
With a contract expiring in 2029, Transfermarkt value the player at €50m. However, the Spaniard believes his value is lower than that.
“I’d put myself at between €35m and €45m,” he added.
