Arsenal have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Australia international Caitlin Foord, securing the forward’s future with the club and providing a significant boost ahead of the new season.
The Gunners announced on Friday that Foord has agreed terms on a new deal, extending her stay in ARSENAL after establishing herself as one of the most influential players in the Women’s Super League.
The agreement brings an end to speculation surrounding the 31-year-old’s future and underlines Arsenal’s determination to retain key members of their squad as they prepare to challenge for domestic and European honours.
Since joining Arsenal in January 2020, Foord has become a central figure in the club’s attack. Known for her pace, creativity and versatility across the front line, the Australian has consistently delivered important goals and assists during her time at Meadow Park and the Emirates Stadium.
Foord played a pivotal role during the 2024-25 campaign, helping Arsenal compete on multiple fronts while continuing to demonstrate her value in high-pressure matches.
Her ability to operate as a winger, second striker or central forward has made her an indispensable option for head coach Renée Slegers, who has prioritised maintaining continuity within the squad.
Speaking following the announcement, Arsenal expressed their delight at securing Foord’s services, praising her professionalism, experience and leadership qualities. Club officials view the extension as another important step in building a squad capable of challenging the strongest teams in Europe.
“I’m extremely excited to be staying here,” she said. “I’ve spent a lot of my last few years here and to still have a desire and taste to want to win more and to lift trophies with this club is incredible, which we’ve done a couple of times in the past. There’s a few more left to do and I just really want to be a part of that and help the team get there.
“We’ve come so close the last couple of years, especially in the league and that’s what I haven’t done since I’ve been here in my six-and-a-half years. League Cup as well and of course the Champions League when we’ve done that, it was so special.
“So to be so close again and to almost do it again, I think that’s something, you know, you get a taste of lifting trophies and you want to do it more and more. So yes, that’s definitely a driving factor.”
So what is Caitlin looking forward to most about being part of the next chapter, and what’s her message to the ARSENAL supporters who follow us over land and sea?
“I think it’s just to drive for more to win more trophies,” she said. As we’ve touched on, we’ve been so close and it’s in reaching distance. I think it’s now about going that one step further and finally getting our hands on those trophies we’ve come so close to. I believe we can do it and I’m ready to give everything to achieve it as well.
“The fans have been absolutely incredible throughout my whole career and beyond, obviously. But to see how many of them turn up week in, week out, home or away, it’s so special to walk out in front of them.
“That’s one massive reason why I want to stay at this club as well, the support we have. You want to give more to them and they deserve more as well. So yes, I just want to be a part of that”
