L’Equipe provide new contract update on Bradley Barcola

Liverpool’s long-running admiration for Bradley Barcola is well-documented.

As far back as the summer of 2025, the Reds were heavily linked with the PSG winger, with reports from that window suggesting he was on their radar as a serious option.

In fact, as Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak from Newcastle ran into difficulties, with multiple bids rejected, Barcola emerged as a genuine alternative.

It was widely understood at the time that had the Isak deal collapsed entirely, a move for Barcola would have been the next call.

That interest, however, never fully disappeared.

Fast forward to now, and Barcola’s future at the Parc des Princes is uncertain.

The 23-year-old has found himself slipping down the pecking order at PSG, with Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of him in the best XI.

Despite holding a contract until 2028, contract extension talks have been ongoing for several months yet they have stalled.

Now, a fresh report from L’Equipe has shed more light on the situation, and it makes for interesting reading.

According to the French outlet, Barcola’s agent Moussa Sissoko (who also represents Ousmane Dembele) held talks with PSG sporting director Luis Campos last week, but no progress has been made.

Internally, PSG’s hierarchy speak glowingly of Barcola, but the club’s stance is firm: only players who show a genuine desire to stay will be kept.

Barcola wants assurances over his role in the biggest matches. guarantees PSG say they will not give.

Luis Enrique is said to want to keep him, but nothing is expected to move until after the World Cup. Tellingly, L’Equipe note that PSG are “not so closed to a sale” if an agreement cannot be reached.

It’s added that: “Paris is never in the habit of keeping a player who does not want to extend and who is entering the last two years of his contract.”

With Liverpool’s desire for fresh energy on the wings this summer, it seems like a situation to continue to keep an eye on.
