Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard
Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard
Arsenal‘s Leandro Trossard could leave the Premier League winners this summer.
In April, Sport Witness covered claims from Belgium that there’s a strong chance the 31-year-old is in his final weeks at Arsenal.
Recent claims from Turkey have covered Beşiktaş’ interest in the forward. He managed eight goals and 11 assists from 50 matches this season for the Gunners.
On Thursday, we relayed news that Beşiktaş president Serdal Adalı has made official contact with the north London club for Trossard.
The Belgium international is their main target for the left wing and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta is their priority for the No.9 position.
Beşiktaş’ plan to sign Arsenal player
Sporx pick up on that and cover the latest on the Istanbul club’s efforts to try and sign Leandro Trossard.
Last week, the Black Eagles confirmed the appointment of Vincenzo Italiano as their new manager. Having sorted this out, the focus is now on strengthening their squad.
For the attack, the former Brighton & Hove Albion is one of the main targets and Beşiktaş are taking action.
The Turkish club have started preparing an official offer of €20m. As a part of the deal, the player will receive an annual salary of €7m, likely net, probably without bonuses.
Beşiktaş will soon submit this to Mikel Arteta’s side [and the Belgian] and then start talks with the Gunners.
There’s no mention of either the English champions or the Belgian’s decision over his potential move to the Süper Lig side.
Why Arsenal could sell for €20m
Recent claims from Belgium and elsewhere stated Leandro Trossard would be available in the market.
Leandro Trossard’s contract expires in 2027 and Transfermarkt value him at €18m. This summer will be Arsenal’s last big chance to earn a fee and avoid losing him for free next year.
The Gunners’ record sale is €38m from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to Liverpool in 2017. The second best €35m, collected from Nicolas Anelka’s sale to Real Madrid in 1999.
Taking this, Trossard’s age, and his contract situation into account, Arsenal are likely to accept if Beşiktaş offer €20m for him. It’ll be then down to the player to decide whether or not to move to Turkey.
