Although it is the attack and the defense where most of the changes are expected to take place, there can also be some alterations in the FC Barcelona midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window. This latter area is one of the strongest for the Catalan side, and it can be reasonably argued that they do not need any reinforcements for the midfield this summer.
However, there can still be some departures. This is particularly the case as Hansi Flick currently has seven midfielders at his disposal for the three midfield positions. Even with the German coach’s desired two players for each position, there is one expendable midfielder in the Blaugrana squad who can leave this summer.
Several reports in recent weeks have pointed to Marc Casado as the player who is potentially going to leave the club this summer. Now, a report from [MARCA](https://www.marca.com/futbol/barcelona/2026/06/11/casado-pacta-barca-salida.html) claims that the midfielder, who has always been a Barcelona fan, has agreed to a departure, and the matter has also been discussed between Deco and Jorge Mendes.
As a result of this discussion, a price tag of €25 million has been put on the player, while the option of a loan, which is the preferred route for Casado, is also not ruled out. Mendes has already been working on this operation for some time, and is currently considering two offers, [one from Saudi Arabia](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-consider-including-player-in-joao-cancelo-deal-with-al-hilal/) and one from La Liga, both of which would convince Barcelona.
For now, the primary aim of the Blaugrana side is to ensure that this operation does not drag on, and is completed before the end of the current financial year, on June 30th. All the involved parties are working on this operation with this deadline in mind, and hopefully, its outcome would prove to be beneficial for all of them, especially for Marc Casado himself.
