Liverpool fans have probably seen Juventus’ name pop up more than they’d like over the past few weeks.
Not because of anything happening in Turin, but because of their sustained push to lure Alisson Becker away from Anfield.

Juve had sounded out the Brazilian over a lucrative multi‑year deal, with the 33‑year‑old understood to be open to the idea of a return to Serie A if the clubs could find an agreement.
Liverpool, though, made their stance crystal clear.
Instead of entertaining a sale, the Reds triggered a one‑year extension on Alisson’s contract and formally communicated to him and his camp that they wanted him to stay.
That forced the Bianconeri to look elsewhere for a new No.1, with Fabrizio Romano and multiple outlets now reporting that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has climbed to the top of their shortlist, even reaching a verbal agreement in principle as talks advance over a long‑term deal in Turin.
And while all that goalkeeper drama has been unfolding, there’s been another development behind the scenes at Juventus that will catch the eye of Liverpool supporters for a very different reason.
Former Reds director of football Damien Comolli has officially announced his decision to step down from his role in the Juventus hierarchy.
It brings his time in Turin to an abrupt end just a year after being promoted to chief executive.
Comolli arrived at Liverpool in 2010 but departed by mutual consent two years later. During his spell at Anfield, he was in charge of a significant recruitment drive, which saw the club spend heavily on players including Andy Carroll (£35 million) and Luis Suarez (£22.7 million).
Taking to X, the ex-Liverpool sporting director confirmed his exit from the Italian giants:
“I have decided to step down from my position of Chief Operating Officer of Juventus FC with immediate effect. I would like to thank John Elkann and Exor for giving me the opportunity to work for this amazing football club.”
“I would also like to thank my colleagues at the club for their commitment and dedication and to wish the very best to both the women’s and men’s teams for the up coming season. A massive thank you to the Juventus fans for their incredible support. You are the ones making this club such a special.”
Meanwhile, club legend Giorgio Chiellini was formalised as Director of Football Strategy in June 2025.
