Beth Mead joins Manchester City

Beth Mead has signed for Manchester City, after she departed Arsenal on the expiration of her contract.

She joins the current Women's Super League and FA Cup champions, Manchester City, after a nine year stint with North London side Arsenal, where she made 167 appearances and scored 54 goals for the side.

During her time at Arsenal, she went on to win the Women's Super League in the 2018/19 season, three Women's League Cups, the UEFA Women's Champions League last season and most recently the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup, which took place at the beginning of this year.

Having joined Arsenal at 21, from Sunderland, where she became the youngest WSL Golden Boot winner, she continued to gain recognition both at club and internationally for the England Lionesses, where she made her debut against Wales in April 2018.

She then continued to go from strength to strength, with her a breakout performance during the Lionesses history making Euros 2022 victory in which she won the Golden Boot, Player of the Tournament and was the top assist provider with six goals and five assists in six matches.

On an individual level, following this success at the Euros, she was named BBC Footballer of the Year and BBC Sports Personality of the Year as well as finishing as runner up in the Ballon d'Or.

In 2023, she suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury which saw her out of contention for the remainder of the 2022/23 season and also for the 2023 FIFA World Cup which was held across Australia and New Zealand.

She then returned to the squad in November 2023 and was part of the victorious England Lionesses squad for the Euro 2025 campaign in Switzerland.

She now joins Manchester City, where she will reunite with ex-Arsenal teammate and her partner Vivianne Miedema.
