Liverpool could sanction a sale of Alexis Mac Allister in this summer transfer window. Fabrizio Romano has said that the Reds could let the Argentine go on some certain conditions. Real Madrid’s point of view on going for the midfielder in this window has been revealed.

Why Alexis Mac Allister may have to move out from Liverpool?

As reported by TEAMtalk, a dip in Mac Allister’s performances has been observed in the 2025-26 campaign. The South American midfielder could not live up to the mark this season under former Liverpool manager, Arne Slot. But now, a change in the managerial post has taken place.

Newly appointed boss, Andoni Iraola has joined the Reds and has started to do his duties. The ex-Bournemouth coach does not view Mac Allister in his plans. It feels like that the Argentine may have no clear future under the Spanish boss.

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister had won the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in 2022. At that time he was at Brighton and Hove Albion. A year later, in July 2023 he signed for Liverpool for €42m, including add-ons, according to Transfermarkt.

After joining the Merseyside club, he has performed consistently and has delivered on big occasions. The 27-year-old has thrived under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot. In his first season under Klopp, he played very well. Then Arne Slot came followed by Klopp’s departure. But a managerial change did not affect his football performance. He became a crucial piece in Liverpool’s midfield, though his form dipped significantly this season.

Fabrizio Romano’s stance on Liverpool’s Mac Allister decision

As reported by Yahoo Sports, journalist Fabrizio Romano has informed that Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) could sell Alexis Mac Allister in this window. They could take this decision if good offers come for the midfielder. Club hierarchy is not in a hurry to offload the midfielder. They will think only when clubs come with good transfer bids.

The transfer expert has said on his YouTube channel, “Mac Allister situation could be interesting this summer in case of good proposals for Liverpool and for the player.” Many clubs have started to monitor the situation. But he added that as things stand, the Argentine is not 100% leaving. He justified by saying, “It’s not guaranteed, it’s not close, it’s not advanced, but could be a topic.”

Romano has claimed about the interest which is surrounding Mac Allister. But he has not revealed the name of the clubs who are interested in the Premier League midfielder. But Spanish media has said that Real Madrid is one of the clubs who are interested in signing the Argentine midfielder.

As reported by Diario AS on 3rd June, Alexis Mac Allister is one of the midfielders that the Los Blancos are watching keenly. The Reds midfielder’s name is in Real Madrid’s transfer shortlist for this summer. But Real Madrid are not only interested in the star midfielder. They have their other targets as well.
