A. J. Brown Downplays Eagles Exit Drama After Report He Signed “Best to Ever Play Here” on…

A. J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles could have had a better season than the one they had. Fresh out of winning the previous Super bowl, the franchise only managed to have a decent 11-6 record in the regular season.

After the poor season they had, the franchise has decided to part ways with the wide receiver. After months of waiting, he has been traded to the New England Patriots. But it looks some drama between them still exists.

A. J. Brown speaks on writing message on facility wall

Brown was traded to the Patriots in for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection going to the Eagles. As the deal was completed after June 1, it will allow the Eagles to spread Brown’s cap charges over two seasons. His trade comes after previous reports suggested friction with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Recently, NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported that Brown visited the Eagles’ Jefferson Health Training Complex last week. He went there to retrieve his personal items and say farewell to teammates and staff. It has been further reported that while he was there, Brown signed a life-sized photograph of himself displayed on a wall featuring the team’s Pro Bowl players. He also allegedly wrote a handwritten message that said, “The best to ever play here, always open.”

This caused many to feel that he disrespected the Eagles, especially due to the circumstances of his departure. Brown was directly asked by FOX29 Philadelphia’s Jeff Skversky about the handwritten message he reportedly wrote. Instead, he downplayed those reports by simply saying, “I appreciated my time in Philly”, and refused to say anything more.

The wide receiver did have a good time with the Eagles in the four seasons he stayed there. He won two Super Bowl titles with them and had more than 1,000 receiving yards in four straight seasons, the first in franchise history. He has already impressed the staff in the New England Patriots.

A. J. Brown impresses Patriots coaches

Brown has only been training with the Patriots for a while and has already put in good work. Head coach Mike Vrabel praised him, “I think he has showed up with a great attitude, and I have enjoyed watching his interactions with the other players on the team. I think that is probably the thing that I’m most excited about right now.” The two were previously together with the Tennessee Titans from 2019-2021.

Receivers coach Todd Downing also had good praise for the receiver. He said, “His second practice, he had a drop on a ‘go’ ball. And after practice, he wanted to do push-ups for the drop in front of the group. Everybody chose to do it together. So, creating and augmenting that culture of mutual accountability has been awesome.”

A. J. Brown will be preparing for the 2026 NFL season, this time with the Patriots.
