AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche has fuelled speculation over his future after admitting that a summer departure from the Ligue 1 club is a realistic possibility, placing CHELSEA on alert ahead of the transfer window.
The highly rated star has emerged as one of the most sought-after attacking talents in European football following another impressive campaign with Monaco. CHELSEA , Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with the Frenchman in recent months, while clubs across Europe are believed to be monitoring his situation closely.
Speaking about his future, Akliouche stopped short of confirming his exit but acknowledged that the time may be right for a new challenge.
The winger suggested that a decision would be made in the coming weeks, adding further weight to reports that Monaco could be prepared to sanction a sale if their valuation is met
Speaking to Nice-Matin before travelling to the United States with the French national team for the 2026 World Cup, Akliouche was candid about his situation. When asked if the next step would be a transfer this summer, he responded: “Will the next step be a transfer this summer? Yes, but frankly, I’m really focused on this World Cup.”
“I know anything can happen, even during the competition. It’s a great opportunity for exposure, but I’m staying focused on the national team’s objectives.
“I don’t want to disrespect my club by talking about the transfer window now either. There are other things to deal with.”
Chelsea are understood to be among the clubs keeping a close watch on developments.
The Blues continue to prioritise the recruitment of young, high-potential talent and view Akliouche as a player capable of fitting into their long-term project.
Would he be a good signing?
From a tactical perspective, he would add something Chelsea sometimes lack: consistent creativity in the half-spaces. Too often, their attacks can become wide and predictable, relying heavily on pace out wide or individual moments. Akliouche offers a more subtle solution—someone who can receive under pressure, turn, and unlock compact defences.
However, there are caveats. The Premier League is a significant step up in intensity, and Akliouche is still refining his end product.
***CHELSEA***’s recent history with young attackers also shows that adaptation is not always smooth, especially in a system that changes frequently. He would need stability in role and coaching support to flourish.
Overall, he feels less like a gamble and more like a calculated investment
