Arsenal star in advanced talks to join Turkish giants in €20m transfer: Reports

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard is reportedly in advanced talks to join Besiktas this summer. He has reportedly agreed on terms with the Turkish giants for a potential transfer.

The Gunners ended their five-year hunt for a major trophy as they won the Premier League last season. They, however, lost in the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on penalties. They are now looking to revamp their squad this summer to bring in more reinforcements.

According to Caught Offside, one player who could make way this summer is Trossard. The Belgian attacker has reportedly agreed to the terms of a contract with Besiktas. The Turkish giants will now engage in talks with Arsenal over transfer fees. They are willing to offer around €20 million for him.

Trossard isn't pushing to leave the Gunners but has almost verbally agreed to a move. His current contract expires in 2027. Hence, the north London side could get a transfer fee for him this summer instead of letting him leave for free next year.

Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. He has scored 36 goals and provided 34 assists in 174 games for them across competitions.

Former Arsenal defender urged the club to sell Leandro Trossard and another attacker

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas believes the club should sell Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli this summer. He said that the Gunners need to sign top-quality wingers to get the best out of Viktor Gyokeres. He explained that the striker struggled in his debut season at the club due to a lack of good service.

Gallas said:

"Gyokeres has scored goals but he hasn’t scored enough goals so he has to reach a minimum 20 goals next season and it will be difficult for him if Arsenal are going to play the same way because he doesn’t really dominate the league physically like he did in Portugal."

"Maybe you need a left winger because I don’t know what has happened to Gabriel Martinelli, he’s just not what he was, and Leandro Trossard is a good squad player but you need something else," he added.

Gallas stated that the Gunners "need players to give Gyokeres the ball to score the goals." Gyokeres and Trossard have, notably, shared the pitch 37 times but combined for just one goal.

Last season, meanwhile, the Belgian attacker scored just eight goals in 50 games across competitions and provided 11 assists.
