Eli Junior Kroupi to Arsenal: Parlour tips Bournemouth striker for Arteta switch
Eli Junior Kroupi to Arsenal: Ray Parlour thinks Mikel Arteta should open the chequebook. Speaking to The Mirror, the former Gunners midfielder didn’t mince his words about Eli Junior Kroupi. He reckons the Bournemouth forward has real quality. A proper player. Parlour pointed out that Kroupi would slot right into the north London setup this summer, mostly because Arteta knows how to get a tune out of younger lads. There was no beating around the bush. Just a straightforward nod of approval from a bloke who knows what it takes to win in a red shirt.
‘Kroupi’s a very good, talented player, there’s no doubt about that,’ Parlour told The Mirror.
‘He’s a young player, and you know Mikel Arteta can make players even better when they’re young, so that would be a good signing.’
The hype isn’t just paper talk. Kroupi is coming off a massive year on the south coast. Thirteen Premier League goals. He led the line while Bournemouth went on a crazy 18-game unbeaten run, snatching sixth place and European football for the first time. Now the big boys are interested. The Cherries want £86 million. Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are all sniffing around. PSG were keen, but that interest seems to be cooling off a bit. Still, the Frenchman is the name on everyone’s lips right now.
The Iraola factor and the verdict
Here is where it gets messy. Andoni Iraola is tipped for the Liverpool job. He loves Kroupi. That flips the whole transfer race on its head. If your old boss calls from Anfield with Champions League football in his pocket, you listen. It is a massive problem for Edu and Arteta.
This will drag on. It always does when £86 million is on the table for a kid with one good season. Arsenal cannot afford another summer of deadline-day panic. They need a goalscorer after that brutal Champions League final defeat, and Kroupi ticks the boxes.

So, what is the play? Arsenal must move fast. No dithering. If they have the cash, pay it. The striker spot at the Emirates is there for the taking, and Kroupi would fly under Arteta’s coaching. But history shows that sentiment does not buy players. Liverpool have a massive trump card with Iraola. If the Gunners cannot promise immediate, guaranteed minutes, the lad will look elsewhere, and Bournemouth will simply take the highest bid.
