Mikel Arteta will be primed to act in the summer transfer window with just two days remaining before it swings open. Premier League clubs will be free to strengthen their squads from June 15 – and it promises to be a thrilling summer of activity.

The Arsenal boss conceded following last month's Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain that his squad will require significant improvement during the break. Claiming the Premier League title is merely the starting point for the north London outfit, who are expected to invest heavily in order to sustain their dominance and potentially go one better on the European stage.

Arteta will have one eye on the World Cup 2026, with 15 Arsenal players competing in the tournament, and the other firmly fixed on the club's transfer ambitions. We examine the two most recent transfer stories surrounding the English champions.

A left-winger sits at the top of Arteta's wish-list this summer, and the Spaniard could be handed a golden opportunity following the latest developments surrounding Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola. According to L'Equipe, the French champions are willing to consider offers for Barcola this summer.

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli have struggled to deliver consistent performances in north London, making a high-profile arrival on the left flank a key priority for the Premier League champions. Barcola, 23, has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent months.

The French outlet reports that contract renewal talks with Barcola have apparently hit an impasse, leaving the club receptive to offers. The Frenchman contributed 13 goals and seven assists across 49 appearances in all competitions this season, yet has found himself playing second fiddle at times to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

£200m transfer verdict

Amongst the players linked with Arsenal, Gunners icon Ray Parlour has urged his former club to pursue Morgan Rogers and Eli Junior Kroupi during the window. Rogers is poised to represent England at the World Cup 2026 following his Europa League triumph with Aston Villa.

Kroupi arrives off the back of a sensational debut season with Bournemouth, netting 13 goals at the Vitality Stadium as the 19-year-old has attracted considerable attention this window. Reports indicate Villa are demanding £100m for their attacking midfielder, while The i Paper has claimed the Cherries are equally seeking £100m to part with their young striker.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour says that Brentford’s €14.4million capture of former Reds keeper Caoimhin Kelleher could well be the bargain of the summer

Speaking to Mirror Football, Parlour has told his former side to target the remarkable double deal. He said: "I think Rogers is a fantastic player. He can play off the left-hand side as well. I think we need someone off the left. I don't know what will happen with Trossard or Martinelli, but Rogers can play in the No. 10 role as well, which he's done very well at Aston Villa.

"I'm interested to see where Rogers plays for England at the World Cup. Kroupi's a very good, talented player, there's no doubt about that. He's a young player, and you know Mikel Arteta can make players even better when they're young, so that would be a good signing."
