It has been an uncertain yet exhilarating start to the summer for Liverpool. Andoni Iraola has taken over from Arne Slot, meaning the Reds will undergo a period of transition.
While the World Cup is dominating headlines as the group stage fixtures intensify, Liverpool have still found themselves at the heart of several transfer stories. One of which saw 17 year old sensation Rio Ngumoha linked with a surprise move to Bayern Munich.
Another saw former fan favorite Darwin Nunez rumored to be staging a remarkable return to Anfield, having departed the club last August. Today's Liverpool news sees both potential transfers take a significant twist.
Rio Ngumoha camp's two promises to Bayern.
Liverpool were dealt a blow last weekend when the Bundesliga giants were linked with a move for highly-rated winger Ngumoha, reports the Mirror.
According to Bayern Insider, Ngumoha's representatives made two promises to the German club. Firstly, it states that his camp "signalled that the winger would be interested in going to Bayern Munich".
Following this, the report claims that the youngster's camp said there "would be no issue in sorting out contract details and the salary".
However, it continued: "FC Bayern had a very clear signal when they knocked on the door at Liverpool that there would be no time or reason for talks," and as a result, no negotiations took place. Liverpool's firm stance was reportedly rooted in their conviction in Ngumoha's ability and their belief that he can develop into a significant asset for the club.
Ngumoha impressed for England on his Three Lions debut against New Zealand in a World Cup warm-up last weekend, claiming the player of the match award. The youngster appears to be building on his breakthrough season with the Reds, during which he netted three goals across 31 appearances.

Darwin Nunez twist
Despite being linked with a sensational return to Liverpool, Nunez is reportedly on Barcelona's radar. The Catalan giants are understood to be seeking a cost-effective replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is departing the club this summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 26 year old represents a more affordable transfer option, having already splashed out £69m on signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
Nunez departed the Reds to join Al Hilallast year and made a promising start in the Saudi Pro League. However, the club's acquisition of Karim Benzema pushed the forward down the pecking order and he was omitted from the squad for the second half of the season.

Speculation intensified this week that the player himself was keen on a return to Liverpool. However, this now appears unlikely.
Former Liverpool star Michael Owen was equally sceptical about the prospect of a comeback for the Uruguayan, who originally joined the Reds in July 2022 from Benfica. "Nunez was effective for Liverpool, but if Andoni Iraola does believe he can be a good fit, then he is the one to make that call," he said.
"He will know how he wants Liverpool to play and who can be effective and know how to play the role well. But for me, I don't see Nunez returning to Liverpool."
