Chelsea will still look to sell Tyrique George this summer if he fails to complete a permanent move to Everton, sources have told Football Insider.

He netted four goals in 13 appearances for the club in the first half of the season, but was loaned out to Everton in January after failing to figure in Liam Rosenior’s plans.

The Toffees agreed a £22million option to buy the winger, but he continued to struggle for game time on Merseyside in the second half of the campaign.

Everton remain keen to sign him permanently for a lower fee, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, George does not have a future at Chelsea and will be sold even if he fails to make that move.

Everton hold all the cards in the situation, with the 30 June deadline looming for them to trigger George’s buy option before other teams are free to sign him.

Tyrique George to be sold by Chelsea after falling down attacking pecking order

Xabi Alonso is now the man at the helm at Stamford Bridge, and he will sanction an exit for George as numerous new signings are lined up.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I'm sure there'll be other clubs looking at George's situation. It does seem like he probably doesn't have a long-term future at Chelsea, or they wouldn’t have loaned him out in the first place.

“He’s a good young player, an England under-21 international as well. If Chelsea are open to selling him permanently, which seems likely with just 12 months left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge, I think there'll be a number of clubs who will be looking at him."

Everton could sign Liam Delap as Chelsea exit looms

Delap also struggled at Chelsea last season, but was given the full campaign to make an impact after joining from Ipswich Town.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Everton are interested in Delap and have been tracking him for several months.

Chelsea are believed to be open to letting him go, so he could well be joining George at the Hill Dickinson Stadium soon.
