The clip shows Manning on stage at the Forum, working through his set with the confidence of someone who has been doing this exact routine – publicly humbling Tom Brady since at least the 2004 playoffs.
Manning started strong: “Of course, we all know Tom has five more Super Bowl rings than I do. He also has more touchdowns, more passing yards, more retirements, more fake hair, and more TB12 bankruptcies.” The line got one of the longest laughs of the night. Per Fox Sports’ recap of the roast’s best moments, the crowd’s reaction to “fake hair” specifically forced Manning to pause before delivering “TB12 bankruptcies,” which landed even harder.
The biggest laugh came when Manning brought up golf: “My handicap is a 6.4. Tom’s handicap? Blowing leads in the Super Bowl to my brother Eli. The two quarterbacks spent their entire careers being compared. Manning won two Super Bowls, with Indianapolis in Super Bowl XLI and Denver in Super Bowl 50. Brady won seven. Manning retired in 2016. Brady retired twice, first in 2022 and then finally in 2023.
By the time of the Netflix roast, both were out of the league and had moved into media. Manning via the ManningCast on ESPN and Brady via Fox Sports. Their dynamic at the roast was less adversarial than the on-field version. Manning called it “great to be here” and described Brady with genuine warmth alongside the jokes.
Brady returned fire with his own set during the roast. He addressed Manning’s two Super Bowl rings, his forehead, and the Colts’ infamous home-crowd noise. He also introduced Belichick as a “friend and mentor” while crediting the Patriots dynasty entirely to himself.
