Commanders, Chiefs among 6 best Stefon Diggs landing spots after star WR avoids suspension

On Friday, former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs had the final roadblock lifted in his quest to sign with a team in NFL free agency.

Diggs was notified by the NFL that it did not find sufficient evidence in its investigation into whether or not he violated the personal conduct policy, which means Diggs won’t face a suspension.

The investigation was spurred on after Diggs was accused of assault by his former personal chef. Diggs has since been found not guilty on all charges.

Teams were likely hesitant to sign Diggs because of that case and with the uncertainty surrounding a possible suspension.

Neither of those things are a concern any longer, so it might not be long before Diggs finds a new home in free agency.

Here’s six teams that could sign him.

Washington Commanders

Even if the bizarre Brandon Aiyuk saga ends with him in Washington, the Commanders should still have interest in someone like Diggs.

Washington is lacking a legit No. 2 receiver opposite Terry McLaurin and there is no telling if Aiyuk will provide what Washington needs after not having taken an NFL snap since 2024.

Diggs can still be a No. 1 on a lot of teams, so having him as a No. 2 would amount to an embarrassment of riches for Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles traded A.J. Brown to Diggs’ old team, the New England Patriots, and we will now find out if DeVonta Smith can step into the WR1 role.

Adding to the uncertainty at the position, Makai Lemon is unproven, and it remains to be seen if Hollywood Brown or Dontayvion Wicks can adequately step into the WR2 role if Lemon doesn’t in his first campaign in the NFL.

Philly opting for the more sure thing in Diggs is a move we can definitely see general manager Howie Roseman making as the Eagles have their sights set on a Super Bowl.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs’ problems at wide receiver start with Rashee Rice, who is a question mark for multiple reasons.

Not only is he serving a 30-day jail sentence for violating probation, which could lead to a suspension, but he’s also working his way back from offseason knee surgery.

There’s nothing to write home about with the rest of the Chiefs’ wide receivers room, either.

Xavier Worthy is coming off a disappointing season, Tyquan Thornton went missing after a hot start to the 2025 campaign and neither Cyrus Allen nor Jalen Royals are guaranteed to offer much, if anything, in their first and second seasons, respectively.

Kansas City desperately needs another impact veteran target for Patrick Mahomes ahead of a season in which the Chiefs are looking to get back to the playoffs. Diggs would be just that.

Baltimore Ravens

Outside of Zay Flowers, the Ravens are short on reliable options at wide receiver.

Rashod Bateman has been streaky during his career, as evidenced by his 515- and 756-yard campaigns being surrounded by seasons in which he has tallied 285, 367 and 224 yards.

As things stand now, the Ravens are also prepared to rely heavily on one of more of their unproven wideouts like Devontez Walker, Elijah Sarratt and Ja’Kobi Lane.

That’s simply not good enough for a team that has its sights set on the playoffs after falling short in 2025.

Las Vegas Raiders

Would Diggs really join a rebuilding team like the Raiders at this late stage in his career?

Well, just consider this: he signed with the Patriots in 2025 after New England went 4-13 in 2024, so it’s certainly possible.

And not only did Diggs help propel the Patriots to a Super Bowl run, he also played a key role in the development of Drake Maye, who has ascended to star status going into Year 3.

The Raiders sure could use a guy with a history of helping a young quarterback after drafting Fernando Mendoza this year.

We also know Las Vegas has one of the worst wide receivers rooms in the NFL and desperately needs a No. 1 target.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts might regret trading Michael Pittman Jr. right about now after Alec Pierce had offseason ankle surgery that leaves his status at least somewhat up in the air.

The Colts do have Josh Downs still, but there is nothing to write home about when it comes to the rest of Indy’s group of wide receivers.

Adding Diggs would give the Colts an insurance policy just in case Pierce’s recovery takes longer than expected, and Daniel Jones would have a very good trio of targets.
