Everton set price for Jarrad Branthwaite amid renewed Manchester United interest

Manchester United are well known to have long-term admiration towards Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.
The Red Devils prepared a bid for the English defender last summer, when Ruben Amorim looked to bolster his options, but a move never came to fruition. It appears this interest has not gone anywhere, and Manchester United remain in the frame to complete the signing this summer.
Two years ago, Everton wished to hold out for £70m for Branthwaite’s services. Their stance has not changed much in this period, and they will look to demand a fee in excess of that price for Branthwaite in the summer of 2026, according to the Daily Mail Sport.
Manchester United are monitoring the situation, along with rivals Manchester City and Bayern Munich, but any move for the Red Devils would have to be driven by an outgoing in defence.
It goes to show how high the club’s admiration for the now 23-year-old is, after a difficult 2025/26 season for Branthwaite, who played just 10 matches for Everton. An injury-hit season, along with a surgical procedure on his hamstring in October, meant it was a disappointing campaign for him, but his ability remains rated by top clubs.
The Red Devils’ recruitment team will keep top priority on the midfield for now, and press on to complete another signing or two for the heart of the team. One swoop which could soon be made is of 21-year-old West Ham United player Mateus Fernandes, who the Red Devils are ‘confident’ in recruiting.
But it will be important to keep an eye on potential departures in the defence, with Lisandro Martinez not having a nailed-on starting spot in Michael Carrick’s side, and Harry Maguire ageing, despite his new contract.
Branthwaite could be a great long-term option, as a player who fits Manchester United’s model of signing Premier League-ready players.
