MONONA, Wis. (WMTV) - Football season is right around the corner for leagues across Wisconsin, and Green Bay Packers star linebacker Micah Parsons made a stop in the Madison area on Saturday to help young athletes get ready.
Parsons hosted a youth football camp at Monona Grove High School, teaming up with FlexWork Sports to deliver an afternoon of drills, skill stations and hands-on coaching for kids ages 6 to 16.
The camp focused on building fundamentals on the field, while also emphasizing sportsmanship and how athletes represent themselves off it.
“It’s such a privilege and a blessing and my honor just to be able to have this impact on these kids and how much they believe in my talents,” Parsons said. “Just to see their excitement. I hope everyone just gets the most out of it today.”
For the athletes on the field, it was a chance to learn from an NFL star up close, and soak in the kind of encouragement that sticks long after the last whistle.
Parsons and FlexWork Sports will host another youth camp Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Whitnall High School (Falcon Field) in Greenfield.
