Liverpool Eye Konate Replacement Who Has Just 12 Months Left On His Contract

Liverpool are keeping tabs on FC Midtjylland centre-back Lee Han-Beom, according to reports.

The Reds have been looking at possible replacements for Ibrahima Konate, who is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer on July 1st.

Lee started South Korea’s opening World Cup group game against Czechia on Thursday, and TEAMtalk claim his performance was being watched by several clubs, including Andoni Iraola’s team.

The 23-year-old’s contract situation is of particular interest. He is closing in on the final 12 months of his current deal with Midtjylland and the Danish side are weighing up whether to sell him this summer.

What do fans need to know about Lee?

The defender made his professional debut for FC Seoul against city rivals Seoul E-Land in the third round of the Korean Cup back in April 2021.

Lee went on to make 54 appearances for the first team before Midtjylland snapped him up for €1.5m in the summer of 2023.

In his first season with his new club, he was part of the team that won the Danish Superliga title. Last season, he also played an important role as his side lifted the Danish Cup.

At international level, Lee was handed his first senior cap in a World Cup qualifier against Kuwait in June last year. His appearance against Czechia was his ninth for his country.

Liverpool will have competition for the player

Lee could well be available for a low price due to his contract status, and TEAMtalk report that four other Premier League clubs have also been scouting him.

Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton and Leeds are all monitoring the player’s situation, while teams on the continent, such as RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Lyon, could enter the battle to secure his signature too.
