Alisson was unable to keep Brazil from a setback in their World Cup opener, with a 1-1 draw with Morocco seeing former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho feature.
Brazil failed to overcome their Group C opponents in New Jersey after conceding just 21 minutes in.
PSV Eindhoven forward Ismael Saibari was sent one-on-one with Alisson after a brilliant through ball from Brahim Diaz – and the goalkeeper was left helpless as Saibari lifted it over him and in.
It could be argued that Liverpool’s No. 1 should have been quicker off his line, but he was not solely to blame as Brazil suffered an early blow.
How the media rated Alisson vs. Morocco
ESPN‘s Murilo Borges rated Alisson a 5.5 out of 10, explaining that he was “caught in no-man’s-land” for Saibara’s opener but “practically didn’t participate” afterwards.
The stopper was “slow to react” but “wasn’t the only one to blame,” according to Globo‘s Bruno Cassucci, who gave a five out of 10 rating having “shone in the final minutes with two excellent saves.”
GOAL‘s Tom Hindle gave Alisson a six out of 10 and insisted the 33-year-old “could do nothing about the goal.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s side levelled through Vinicius Jr’s stunner just after the 30-minute mark but neither side were able to break the deadlock in the hour to follow.
Fabinho back after missing World Cup qualifiers
East Rutherford, NJ - Friday September 07, 2018: The men's national teams of the United States (USA) and Brazil (BRA) played an international friendly at MetLife Stadium. .
Having not been involved at all during the qualifying campaign, ex-Liverpool stalwart Fabinho was named on the bench and replaced a struggling Casemiro at half-time.
Now 32 and three seasons into his spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad, the midfielder brought an improvement on the abject performance seen in the first half.
But Fabinho could do little to turn the tide, with Borges simply describing it as “a performance on par with the others” in his analysis for ESPN.
