Florian Wirtz gets his World Cup underway today as Germany kicks off its tournament against Curacao in Texas.
The Liverpool star will be hoping to emerge as one of the stars of the tournament this year, and send a message after what has been a tricky first year at Anfield. Wirtz will be expected to start for Julian Nagelsmann's side, who will be fully expected to start with a win.
Germany will be the overwhelming favorite against a country making its World Cup debut in Curacao. The Caribbean island nation will have nothing to lose against the four-time world champions, who will be aiming to avoid what would be perhaps the biggest upset in the tournament's history.

The game kicks off at 12 noon local time at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Elsewhere in the US, that's 1 pm Eastern Time and 10 am Pacific Time.
For viewers in the UK, the game will kick off at 6 pm.
Is the game on TV?
Viewers in the U.K. will be able to catch all the action live on ITV, with coverage getting underway at 5 pm. Streaming is also available via ITVX, while highlights will be available after the game on YouTube.
Fans in the US will also be able to watch the game live, with coverage and streaming available on FOX. The game will also be available in Spanish via Telemundo and streaming through Peacock.

Early team news
Wirtz will be expected to start for Germany, with the Liverpool star aiming to send a timely reminder after a mixed first season at Anfield following his record-breaking move from Bayer Leverkusen.
Manuel Neuer has been passed fit to return in goal, having picked up a calf injury in Bayern Munich's final game of the season. Arsenal's Kai Havertz could start up front, while Liverpool fans will be keeping a close eye on Nico Schlotterbeck, who is expected to start at center-back, and has been linked with a move to Anfield.

As for Curacao, the World Cup debutants go into this game as huge underdogs, with Dick Advocaat's side becoming the smallest nation to make it to the tournament.
