The Giallorossi qualified for the Champions League, but the consequence of a top 4 finish means they have to abide by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
After previous breaches, the Serie A side managed to secure a “settlement agreement” in 2022, but it means they are under strict financial controls.
A sale before the end of the accounting year on June 30th is, therefore, seen as essential and Romanews.eu claim the departure of Kone is being considered prior to the deadline.
How much would Arsenal have to pay for the player?
Kone has had a strong season. You can read more about him in our profile here. He was rewarded with a place in France’s World Cup squad, so Roma see him as one of their prized assets.
However, it is believed a fee of around €50m (£43m) might well be accepted for the midfielder.

Other teams are interested in Kone
Romenews.eu report that the Gunners have shown the strongest interest in the 25-year-old, but Serie A champions Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are believed to be monitoring his situation too.
It remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta’s side will make their move before the end of June. They need to raise funds through sales, and there are certain players, such as Christian Norgaard, who may need to be moved on first to make room for Kone.
A lot will hinge on whether the Roma star is deemed a top target for the summer. Reinforcing the middle of the park is on the agenda of sporting director Andre Berta, but adding more firepower up front may well take precedence.
