A quarterback competition is ahead for the Arizona Cardinals’ rookie, but that’s not where his mind lies. As everyone questions who deserves to be the starting quarterback in Week 1, Carson Beck insists that all he wants to do is learn the offense and improve every day in preparation for his chance.
It may very well come in handy, as the Cards are set to enter training camp with no clear-cut starting quarterback amid several veterans, including Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew, in the fold. Beck, however, seems more concerned about preparing than predicting.

Speaking to Arizona Sports’ Cardinals Corner on June 13, Beck made it clear that outside conversations about the starting job are not driving his approach. The rookie quarterback said his attention remains on growth, preparation, and helping the team win.
“Ultimately, at the end of the day, the goal is to win.”

Cardinals rookie Carson Beck told Arizona Sports' @AZCardsCorner that he isn't worried about the starting quarterback competition between himself, Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew.

The former Georgia and Miami QB added that too many players get caught looking ahead instead of handling the work directly in front of them. Instead of worrying about titles or depth-chart labels, Beck wants to maximize every rep and continue learning the finer details of the position.
That approach comes at an important time for the Cardinals. It should be noted that head coach Mike LaFleur has not announced who will start, and there is significant uncertainty about this matter heading into training camp. Brissett played 12 games for the Cardinals last season, whereas Minshew joined the team during this offseason. On the other hand, Beck represents an interesting rookie who was selected in the third round of this year’s draft.
Beck definitely has something special about him, as he is far from being a typical developmental quarterback. This young player played in many college matches and several playoff games. In particular, he helped his team advance to the national championship game. That experience was one reason Arizona felt comfortable selecting him despite questions surrounding a previous elbow injury.
Those health concerns appear to be fading. Beck recently said his arm feels as strong as it ever has, roughly 18 months after surgery to repair a torn UCL. The extra recovery time, combined with a full offseason dedicated to mechanics and throwing work, has helped restore confidence heading into his first NFL camp.
For now, the Cardinals are keeping every option open, whether Beck starts immediately or spends time learning behind veterans. Arizona’s rookie quarterback appears comfortable with the process. As training camp approaches, his message remains simple: focus on the work, block out the noise, and be ready when the opportunity comes.
