As Manchester United prepare for the summer transfer window, which is due to open in the coming days, the club has identified the full-back position as one that requires recruitment.

That recruitment primarily falls in the left-back where, for a large portion of the 2025-26 campaign, Luke Shaw played.

A lack of depth, and Shaw now being 30, has prompted the club into looking for new talent that could move the team further towards success.

CentreDevils exclusively revealed that the Red Devils had been in contact with Lewis Hall’s representatives surrounding a possible move.

Links have continued to flourish between the two parties and Hall even handed Manchester United a huge transfer boost with him now looking set to leave Newcastle United this summer.

The Newcastle defender is not the only option that has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, though. Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella has also been linked with a move with the Red Devils reported to be monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window.

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are both interested, too, as the two Spanish giants target improvement in the transfer window.

CaughtOffside now report that Real Madrid and Manchester City also carry an interest in Cucurella.

The outlet state that Madrid are keeping tabs on the situation whilst City are closely following development as the situation continues to unravel.

More importantly, though, CaughtOffside have reported that the full-back’s current priority is to make the switch to Barcelona.

The LaLiga champions have previously been reported to be considering a move and would go for Marc Cucurella should Alejandro Balde leave Spain this summer.

Manchester United now face a choice. Signing either Balde or Cucurella would add undeniable quality to the backline although only one appears possible. With Hall also still in the frame, that decision becomes harder as the transfer window beckons.

The club are likely to face competition whichever route is chosen and those at the top of recruitment at Old Trafford will hold the power in choosing where Manchester United move next.
