Bears predicted to sign 8-time Pro Bowler to address key need ahead of Week 1

The Chicago Bears are in a good spot. The team has its franchise quarterback, one of the top young head coaches, and a solid roster all around.

However, the team wants to go a step further in 2026 than they did in 2025, so they shouldn't stop looking to make improvements. One spot that has needed to get better for years is the pass rush.

On one side, the Bears have Montez Sweat, who has been solid. However, the other edge spot is currently occupied by Austin Booker, who has yet to turn into a special pass rusher. Perhaps the team would be interested in one of the top remaining free agents.

Bears urged to sign Cam Jordan for 2026

Karl Rasmussen of Sports Illustrated recently identified the best landing spots for the top free agents. For Cam Jordan, Rasmussen thinks the Bears would be a perfect fit if the veteran opts to leave the New Orleans Saints.

Regarding this possible fit, Rasmussen offered the following:

The Bears hired former Saints defensive coordinator and head coach Dennis Allen last offseason. Allen and Jordan are very familiar with one another, having spent 10 seasons together in New Orleans. Allen was the Saints’ DC for most of Jordan’s best seasons in the NFL, so a reunion in Chicago could be enticing for both sides. Plus, the Bears don’t have a formidable pass rush, so adding an experienced veteran like Jordan could be a big boost to the entire defense.

As Rasmussen pointed out, Dennis Allen is with the Bears now, and he is very familiar with Jordan. The idea of playing for his former coach may excite Jordan, and the Bears could certainly use a player of his caliber.

In 2025, Jordan played in all 17 games and collected 47 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and 15 tackles for loss. That was an incredible level of production for a 36 year old, and he hasn't even missed a game since 2022.

Jordan has earned eight Pro Bowl selections, has been a First-team All-Pro once, and was selected to the Hall of Fame All-2010s team.

Will Jordan leave Saints?

Jordan is one of the first people you think of when you think of the Saints. Jordan has been with the team since they took him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Since being in the league, Jordan has been one of the most consistent defensive ends in the game.

Apparently, Jordan has been offered a new deal by the Saints, but he's yet to sign it. It's possible Jordan is unsure if he wants to keep playing football, and in that case, it's probably unlikely he signs elsewhere.

However, if Jordan does want to keep playing, but wants a change of scenery, the Bears would be perfect. The veteran probably wants to contend if he keeps playing, so an exciting team like Chicago makes a ton of sense.
