Seven Liverpool players are currently featuring in the World Cup across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Meanwhile, things are equally hectic back at Anfield, where new boss Andoni Iraola and his staff are working tirelessly on transfer business ahead of the forthcoming season. The Reds have been linked with several players to bolster key areas throughout the squad.

Several current Liverpool stars, as well as transfer targets, are in action at the World Cup in North America, with Reds scouts likely keeping a close eye on fixtures throughout the tournament. Here, Liverpool.com rounds up all the latest news emerging from Anfield.

Diomande's confession

Yan Diomande revealed last year that his dream was to "play at Anfield," and he declared himself a devoted supporter of the Reds.

The RB Leipzig winger has emerged as a key target for Liverpool in recent months, with the club understood to be leading the race for his signature.

A fee of £87 million ($116 million) is currently being mooted, with Iraola keen to open talks with the German club. Diomande has already made his feelings known, having professed his admiration for the Reds on TikTok back in November.

He said: "I have one [dream], I want to play at Anfield. I want to play for Liverpool. I'm a big fan of Liverpool."

However, the 19-year-old has since clarified that the "dream" comment was dedicated to his Liverpool-supporting father. He told Bild: "People made it out to be my dream club, but first and foremost, it's my dad's favorite club.

"It was always his great wish to see me play there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield. He always raved about Steven Gerrard. I was too young to see him play. We didn't even have a TV at home for a long time."

Salah replacement found

Diomande is not the only winger on Liverpool's radar this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola has also attracted the Reds' attention, with speculation mounting that the Frenchman could soon be on the move.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool is monitoring Barcola closely, and PSG may entertain offers should it identify an alternative wide option.

According to reports, Liverpool would need to part with around £86 million ($115 million) to lure the electrifying talent away from PSG as a replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

The Egyptian confirmed his exit from the club after agreeing to terminate his contract a year ahead of schedule. Iraola will be eager to bring in experienced, proven players as he looks to hit the ground running at the start of his tenure at Anfield.
