Manchester United renew interest in Barcelona midfielder

Manchester United are weighing up their options in midfield this summer and have already completed one signing to reinforce the heart of their team.
Brazilian midfielder Ederson, of Atalanta, is set to sign for the Red Devils in a £40m deal and will soon put pen to paper on a four-year contract.
The club has not yet pinpointed their favourite midfield signing, after a swoop for Elliot Anderson was all-but ruled out, but United are set to renew interest in a player they have monitored for some time.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, 22-year-old Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado knows it will be difficult to force his way into Hansi Flick’s plans at the club, and will make a decision over his future this summer. Atletico Madrid, Al Hilal and Bayer Leverkusen are all credited with interest, as are Manchester United.
Casado is represented by Jorge Mendes, with whom the Red Devils have a good working relationship, as the agent of Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte, as well as club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Along with Barcelona’s Marc Casado, Manchester United midfield target Mateus Fernandes is represented by Jorge Mendes. With Ugarte likely to depart Old Trafford this summer, and Casado and Fernandes on the club’s radar, the super agent really could dictate the club’s business.
The Barcelona and Spain midfielder, Casado, started just 10 times in La Liga for Barcelona last season. Clearly a talented young footballer, he is not getting the chances to prove his worth under Hansi Flick.
Last summer, Manchester United were interested in the signing of Marc Casado; the club clearly have a sustained interest. His services would have set the club back €100 million in 2025, though it surely won’t be as high this summer.
Casado could be a smart signing for United, as a player who hasn’t had a huge opportunity to prove himself for Barcelona. With a move for Elliot Anderson looking untenable, this could be one to keep an eye on.
