Liverpool transfer news: Fabrizio Romano dropped a massive update overnight on his channel. Liverpool have made direct contact regarding Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old Lille midfielder has been attracting attention at the World Cup, and meetings have already taken place with the player’s representatives. Liverpool aren’t alone in this race. Whether Liverpool can match what Arsenal or PSG might offer is a massive question, but the contact itself tells you something. This isn’t a passing fancy from the recruitment team.
Right, here is my honest read on this one. As things stand on June 14th 2026, I reckon this drags on for weeks, possibly into August. Lille don’t blink first. Look at Pépé, Osimhen, and David. They wait. They let the World Cup spotlight do the negotiating for them. Frankly, Bouaddi’s display against Brazil just added several million to his price tag overnight.
Arsenal’s rejected bid proves Lille aren’t desperate. Liverpool joining the conversation doesn’t change Lille’s valuation. It just adds competition. That suits the French club perfectly. A bidding war is exactly what they want.

My gut says PSG will eventually drop out. They are not prioritising midfielders right now, despite admiring him. That leaves a straight scrap between Arsenal and Liverpool. Arsenal moved first, but Liverpool’s recruitment under their current setup has been ruthless when they identify a target. Wirtz and others prove that.
I’d lean towards Liverpool eventually winning this. Lille reportedly prefer selling abroad rather than strengthening a domestic rival, and PSG are exactly that threat in their eyes. But it won’t come cheap. Expect something north of €75m before ink touches paper, and don’t be shocked if this stretches deep into the window.
