Feyenoord approach former Liverpool coach to become new manager

Feyenoord had a disappointing 2025/26 season.

The Rotterdam club finished second in the Eredivisie behind Netherlands giants PSV Eindhoven.

That itself wasn’t the most disappointing part.

Finishing 19 points behind the league leaders and the style of play from the team is what caused most frustration with the supporters and the hierarchy.

Robin van Persie, the Manchester United and Arsenal legend, was the man in charge of the club during the season and was fired once the season was over.

Since van Persie’s departure, many in the Netherlands have speculated who might take over.

Famously, Arne Slot was Feyenoord manager before he made his move to England when he became Liverpool head coach.

And it appears that the Liverpool connection is being rekindled if online reports are to be believed.

Feyenoord Transfermarkt are reporting that Feyenoord have approached former Liverpool assistant head coach Sipke Hulshoff to become their next head coach.

A proposal is being prepared for the coach, who joined Liverpool when he moved to Merseyside alongside Arne Slot in 2024.

Hulshoff was also former assistant head coach for the Netherlands national team.

Sipke Hulshoff is free of his current coaching roles after being officially released by Liverpool just this past week.

If he was to move to Stadion Feijenoor, it would mean that he wasn’t out of work for very long.

Feyenoord appointed Devy Rigaux as technical director and Robert Eenhoorn as general manager just two weeks before the club parted with Robin van Persie and the pair will be keen to ensure that they bring the right man into the dugout.

If Sipke Hulshoff were to take over at the club, it would be his first stint as a head coach of a club and it would certainly be an exciting proposition for the former Liverpool man.
