Brandon Aiyuk posts on Instagram again, release from 49ers coming soon?

One of the NFL’s most bizarre situations may have taken another turn. The San Francisco 49ers’ lengthy standoff with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues, fueled by his increasingly intriguing social media activity. After posting multiple videos calling out the 49ers and later deleting them, Aiyuk shared yet another video.

This time, Aiyuk posted a clip of himself dancing with the caption, “coming to a endzone near [you],” with “you” represented by a pointing emoji. Dressed in a robe, he dances throughout the video, prompting fresh speculation online that he may have received news about his future.

Many fans and observers believe the sequence of events is telling. Aiyuk deleted the previous videos, then followed them up with this post, leading some to wonder whether he knows a major development is imminent. If that’s the case, the possibilities would seemingly be limited to either a trade or a release. Realistically, however, a trade appears highly unlikely.

A release, on the other hand, could happen regardless of Aiyuk’s efforts. If the 49ers do not release him before training camp, he still has one potential strategy available: report to camp and force the team’s hand.

Aiyuk currently remains on the Reserve/Left Squad list. If he reports to training camp, the 49ers can no longer keep him on that designation. They would have to either activate him or release him. Given the circumstances, a release appears to be the more likely outcome.

At this point, it seems clear that Aiyuk’s future is no longer in San Francisco. The question isn’t whether the two sides will part ways, but when. Once that happens, Aiyuk will be free to sign with any team willing to take a chance on him. Much of the speculation has centered on him ultimately finding his way to the Washington Commanders.

A move to Washington would reunite Aiyuk with former college teammate Jayden Daniels. However, that scenario can only become reality if the 49ers first release him.

So, will that release come soon? Previous reports have suggested it may not happen until later in the preseason. Whether Aiyuk’s latest post hints at a new development or is simply another example of his social media antics remains anyone’s guess.
