The New York Knicks won their first NBA championship in 53 years on Saturday. They beat the San Antonio Spurs in five games, with Jalen Brunson leading the charge. Fans, analysts and former and current players sent congratulatory messages on social media, including former New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson.
The one-time Super Bowl champion announcedhis retirement from the NFL on June 3. He posted a video on Instagram where he reflected on his football journey. Wilson also thanked his family, friends, fans, coaches and teammates for the support they provided him throughout his 14-year pro career.
The Wisconsin product was the No. 75 pick in the third round in 2012. He played for the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and Giants. Wilson completed 3,951 of 6,120 passes for 46,966 yards and 353 touchdowns. He added 1,042 rushing attempts for 5,568 yards and 31 scores.

Russell Wilson Congratulates NBA Champions Knicks
Wilson posted an Instagram story to congratulate the Knicks on Saturday night. He reposted a graphic from the team and tagged Brunson.
“Champs @nyknicks @jalenbrunson1 🏆,”Wilson wrote.
New York made history in Game 4 by pulling off the biggest comeback in the NBA Finals. The team trailed by 29 points in the third quarter but won in regulation 107-106.
During Saturday’s game, the Knicks faced a 16-point deficit. However, Brunson and Co. weren’t fazed. The superstar guard finished with 45 points on 12-for-25 shooting, en route to winning Finals MVP.
Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby backed him by all scoring in double digits in the94-90 victory.
Meanwhile, Wilson will remain around football. He also announced that he will be part of CBS Sports as an analyst of its Sunday pregame show. The 10-time Pro Bowler brings a ton of experience playing at the highest level. His commentary and insights will likely give fans more reason to watch the show and look forward to his game analysis.
