This summer, Barcelona could make significant changes in the goalkeeping department of Hansi Flick’s squad. They plan to part ways with Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inaki Pena, which would open the door for Alex Remiro to be brought in from Real Sociedad. However, there could be another departure on the cards, depending on how things play out.
Last summer, Wojciech Szczesny signed a two-year contract to remain as a Barcelona player, having come out of retirement the previous October to act as cover when ter Stegen suffered a serious knee injury. On the whole, he has been dependable when called upon, although the player himself does have concerns about continuing his career.
As per Sport, Szczesny admitted recently that he is “suffering” during his playing days, which likely relates to a chronic arm injury that he has addressed in the past.
“What is easier for me to face, the passage of time in my personal or professional life? The professional one. In personal life, the passage of time is even a pleasant experience, something that does not happen in professional life. In my professional life, I will not deny that each training session is more painful for me, it is a suffering. It requires a lot more energy. It costs me mental energy to get up in the morning, my body is finding it harder every day.
“It’s something that I also accept as a challenge that I set myself every day: to get up, go to training and give it my all. After the daily work, every training, you are left with that feeling of being able to say ‘Ahhh, I can still do it!’ However, I will not deny that it is not easy.”
Barcelona can break Szczesny agreement this summer

It must be remembered that Barcelona can unilaterally break Szczesny’s contract this summer, should both parties agree that him moving on would be the best solution. He has a break clause in this contract that can be activated for €2m, but right now, it is unclear whether the Catalan club are considering this action.
