Chelsea star set to join Real Madrid for€60m fee

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is currently dominating the football landscape, but top clubs are also gaining attention for their big-money transfers this summer.

The latest news is Real Madrid are poised to sign Chelsea star Marc Cucurella in a deal worth around €60 million.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the agreement comprises a €55m fixed fee and €5m in add-ons.

Cucurella endured a difficult start to life at Chelsea following his move from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022.

However, he overcame those struggles to establish himself as one of the best left-backs in the world, amassing 163 appearances across all competitions and scoring nine goals.

Cucurella started 31 Premier League games last season, with five direct goal contributions to his name.

But his future in West London was thrown into doubt after he criticised the club’s hierarchy over their decision to sack manager Enzo Maresca.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were also keen to sign the 27-year-old, but he wanted a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Cucurella is currently in the United States with the Spain squad, and will likely start against Cape Verde on Monday.

Real, who recently confirmed Jose Mourinho as their new head coach, have been very busy in the transfer market.

Los Blancos have entered a massive rebuilding phase after going trophyless in two consecutive seasons.

Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate are expected to join the La Liga giants, while Bernardo Silva has also agreed to come to the Bernabeu this summer.
