Man Utd book Ederson medical
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ederson, with the midfielder set to undergo a medical.
As per the The Athletic, a deal was struck earlier in the month to make Ederson the first new arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
It is understood that Man United will pay Atalanta a €40.5million (£34.9million) fixed fee plus €4.5m (£3.8m) of potential bonuses, while Ederson has agreed a four-year contract which includes the option of an additional 12 months.
Confirmation for the deal had been delayed because of Ederson being called up to the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup, as a late replacement for the injured Wesley.
However, reports in Italy claim an announcement is imminent now that Brazil’s first game of the tournament - a 1-1 draw with Morocco - is out of the way.

Arsenal believed to be interested in signing Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that contact has taken place between both clubs and the agent of a player who is a long-time transfer target for reigning French and European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports from Sky Sport in Switzerland claim that Arsenal have been pursuing the signing of Bouaddi for several months and that the teenager - who had a preference for PSG - is now open to the move after being assured that he would immediately play a key role under Mikel Arteta.
When does the summer window open and close?
The transfer window officially opens today, and runs until Deadline Day, on Tuesday, September 1.
The window will close at 11pm on Deadline Day, which is later than the 7pm close in January.
Forest want defensive reinforcement
Nottingham Forest are still in talks to sign Roma’s Jan Ziolkowski, according to Ekrem Konur.
Forest have seen a €15million offer for the Pole turned down by the Serie A side, who want €20million for their man, with Getafe, Brighton, Bournemouth and West Ham all interested.
Portal do Gremista claim that Tottenham have entered the race to sign Gremio defender Viery.
The 21-year-old is thought to be versatile enough to play both centre-back and left-back, and he is courted by Newcastle, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland.
Real Madrid have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Marc Cucurella this summer, writes Dom Smith.
Standard Sport understands that the Spanish left-back will move to the Bernabeu following the World Cup after talks that quickly accelerated over the last 24 hours.
The transfer is believed to be worth a total of €60million (£51.7m), which includes a €55m (£47.4m) fixed fee and a further €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons.
Liverpool have sent their scouts out to the World Cup to monitor midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, who starred for Morocco against Brazil last night.
The 18-year-old has now been added to the Reds’ shortlist, according to Santi Aouna, along with Lamine Camara, as Andoni Iraola hunts for midfield reinforcements.
Pedro Porro has signed a new contract at Tottenham.
The right-back had been linked with a move away from north London but now looks set to commit his future to the club, penning a deal for another five years.

Some huge breaking news now involving Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella.
The Spain international’s future at Stamford Bridge beyond this summer has been in doubt for some time amid strong links regarding a potential return to Barcelona.
However, in a bombshell update, Fabrizio Romano now reports that Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with both Chelsea and Cucurella to sign the 27-year-old after the World Cup.
More on that to follow.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a warning in their pursuit of Mateus Fernandes, with West Ham under no pressure to sell for financial reasons.
Standard Sport understands the Hammers have set an asking price of £80m for the 21-year-old, with the reason for the valuation down to an internal belief that he can develop into a world-class player within the next two years.
United are among the clubs that hold a concrete interest in Fernandes, though Arsenal, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have also been touted as potential destinations for the ex-Southampton midfielder.
It had been suggested that West Ham need to recoup more than £100m in player sales this summer to balance the books after suffering relegation from the Premier League.

Chelsea identify Cucurella replacement
Chelsea are looking at Maxi Araujo as a replacement for the outgoing Marc Cucurella, according to Si Phillips.
The Blues want the Sporting defender, who has emerged as their top target to strengthen at left-back after a deal was reached for Cucurella to move to Real Madrid after the World Cup.
Araujo is thought to have a €80million release clause, while other reports suggest a fee of between €35m and €50m could be enough to land the Uruguayan.
Manchester United are set to finalise the signing of Ederson, with the midfielder reportedly poised to undergo a medical in New York on Sunday.
It is no secret that Michael Carrick’s priority in the summer transfer window, after being named permanent head coach following a strong finish to the Premier League season, is to bolster the midfield engine room.
There have been suggestions that United will target at least two midfielders, one to replace Casemiro as the Brazilian officially leaves the club after four years at the end of the month.
As per the The Athletic, a deal was struck earlier in June with Serie A side Atalanta to make Casemiro’s Selecao team-mate Ederson the first new arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
Arsenal handed Ayyoub Bouaddi boost as fans demand signing
Arsenal fans have urged the club to go “all out” to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi this summer after his spectacular World Cup debut.
The 18-year-old Lille sensation defied his total lack of experience on football’s biggest global stage to deliver an extremely accomplished performance as Morocco drew 1-1 with Brazil in Saturday’s Group C curtain-raiser in New Jersey.
Bouaddi was not at all fazed by making his World Cup bow against the record five-time winners at a sold-out MetLife Stadium, which will also host the final on July 19, as he bossed the midfield despite being up against star Selecao players such as Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes, who were both substituted by head coach Carlo Ancelotti - the former at half-time.
Bouaddi, by contrast, played the full 90 minutes alongside Roma’s Neil El Aynaoui, wowing spectators with his all-action showing, particularly in the first half as Morocco dominated Brazil.
Arsenal face new competition from Brentford in the race to sign Jeremy Monga.
The Leicester wonderkid looked to be on his way to the Emirates Stadium this summer after reaching an agreement over personal terms.
However, it seems that deal is far from done as Brentford look to get one over on their London rivals.
According to The Times, the Bees are aiming to pip Arsenal to the signing of 16-year-old winger Monga, whose departure from Leicester will be accelerated after their disastrous relegation to League One.

More now on Arsenal’s rumoured interest in Ayyoub Bouaddi.
We’ve already discussed this morning how the Gunners - along with Liverpool - are said to have held direct talks with the agent of Lille’s teenage sensation and a long-time PSG transfer target, who bossed the midfield for Morocco against Brazil in their World Cup opener on Saturday night.
Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Sport reports that Arsenal have actually been working on a deal for Bouaddi for several months now and been in contact with his camp since January 2025.
Their pitch to the player, 18, that he will immediately have a key role for the Premier League champions under Mikel Arteta has apparently made him open to the move, despite preferring PSG.
More talks are believed to be planned for after the World Cup.
Tottenham appear to have rejected Brighton’s bid for Luka Vuskovic.
Standard Sport was among the outlets to report on Friday that Spurs had received a £30m offer from their Premier League rivals for the highly-rated young Croatian defender, who has impressed this season on loan at German club Hamburg.
Vuskovic was believed to be open to moving to the Amex Stadium as he looks to secure regular first-team football for next term.
However, according to talkSPORT, Tottenham have now turned down Brighton’s initial approach for the 19-year-old centre-back, who they say is also wanted by European heavyweights such as Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus.
But despite that refusal, Spurs separately continue to attempt to sign Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke, having seen two bids for the Dutch international rejected so far.
Speaking from the Netherlands’ camp ahead of his country’s World Cup opener against Japan in Dallas on Sunday, Van Hecke said that “clarity” over his club future would likely come after the tournament.
Liverpool have also been linked with Van Hecke, who is said to want to reunite with ex-Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi in north London.
Bradley Barcola is far from the only name on Manchester United’s transfer shortlist this summer.
Having handed former interim boss Michael Carrick the permanent managerial reins, the Red Devils appear intent on getting the bulk of their incoming business done early after already clinching the £35m arrival of Brazil midfielder Ederson from Atalanta.
A new left-back is high on the agenda at Old Trafford, with Sky Sports reporting that Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Fulham’s Antonee Robinson are both targets to become the long-term successor to Luke Shaw.
Further midfield recruits are also wanted, with Manuel Ugarte expected to follow Casemiro out of the exit door after the World Cup.
A number of reports now claim that United are keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s USA star Tyler Adams, an international team-mate of Robinson’s who is also liked by Chelsea and could yet be targeted for a swift reunion with former boss Andoni Iraola at Liverpool.
Manchester United look set to battle Arsenal and Liverpool for the signing of Bradley Barcola this summer.
The France forward could be set to leave PSG in the months ahead after reports that he was disappointed not to have started the recent Champions League final against Arsenal in Budapest.
PSG want to keep Barcola, but apparently will allow him to depart if he wants to go and his valuation of approximately £60m is met.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been in hot pursuit of the 23-year-old, but TEAMtalk now claim that Manchester United have also held internal discussions about potentially bringing him to Old Trafford.
Manchester City and Chelsea are also reported to hold an interest in Barcola.
Ayyoub Bouaddi is the name on the lips of practically every Arsenal fan just at the moment after his impressive start to the World Cup.
The 18-year-old Lille sensation ran the show in midfield for Morocco on Saturday night as they drew 1-1 with Brazil in their Group C opener in New Jersey.
Bouaddi is a player in high demand this summer after shining in Ligue 1 and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano now reports that there has been “direct contact” with both Arsenal and Liverpool, who have each held talks with the player’s agent.
PSG are also said to be long-time admirers of Bouaddi, who it is believed will be available for a fee of around £60m.
Arsenal are exploring a move for Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz, reports claim.
The Gunners are on the lookout for statement signings this summer as they look to build upon a phenomenal season in which they ended a 22-year wait for Premier League title glory and also reached the final of the Champions League.
Yildiz, 21, is one high-profile player in their sights, with The Mirror reporting that Mikel Arteta sees him as a “dream target” for the left flank amid growing doubts over the respective Emirates Stadium futures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.
Arsenal have apparently not been put off by Juventus’ £86m asking price, though any deal will have to wait until after the World Cup finals, where Yildiz is a key player for Turkey.
He came on at half-time on Saturday night as Vincenzo Montella’s side surprisingly lost their Group D opener 2-0 to Australia in Vancouver.
