Liverpool have been handed major boost in efforts to sign "great" £60m Champions League winner

Liverpool have been handed a big boost with the news that rumoured transfer target Bradley Barcola wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Frenchman recently won his second Champions League title in a row with PSG, beating Arsenal in the final on penalties last month.

Despite this, Barcola has struggled to be a key starter for the European champions, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue all often preferred to him in the starting lineup.

Liverpool have been constantly linked with a move for the winger in recent months, as they look to improve their wide options heading into next season, following the departure of Mohamed Salah and possible exit of Cody Gakpo.

Now, talkSPORT‘s Alex Crook reports that Barcola wants a fresh challenge this summer, saying he has “asked to leave” PSG for pastures new.

It is claimed that the £60m-rated ace “is not for sale” in the eyes of the Ligue 1 champions, and “their stance will only soften if they bring in another winger this window.”

Is Bradley Barcola the best summer wide option for Liverpool?

Barcola is a potent attacking player blessed with great pace and trickery, and PSG manager Luis Enrique has hailed him plenty in the past, including in 2024, saying:

“Everyone is talking about Bradley Barcola, but remember after the Newcastle match (at home) last season, people said he wasn’t ready for the Champions League. We are lucky that he is a very balanced person, very sensible, humble, hard-working, with great family values. He was able to calmly manage the difficult moments post-Newcastle period in the best possible way.”

Barcola is currently on international duty with France at the 2026 World Cup, where he will again likely have to accept a squad role, but he could be an exciting signing for Liverpool.

He has end product on top of his pace, bagging 76 goal contributions in 152 PSG appearances, at an average of exactly one every two games.

Granted, Barcola can sometimes be a little hit-and-miss in key areas, but that will likely improve with age, so Liverpool should consider him a great option on the left flank.
