Liverpool hold talks over ambitious move to sign £112m superstar, he's way better than Diomande …

Liverpool are gearing themselves up for another huge summer transfer window, having spent around £450m at the same stage last year.

Liverpool added the likes of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Milos Kerkez to their squad a year ago, but it failed to have the desired effect as the club ended the Premier League season in fifth position, just 12 months after winning the title in Arne Slot's debut season in charge.

With the Dutchman now departed, Reds chiefs need to back new manager Andoni Iraola in the transfer market, especially given the Spaniard has already lost Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate before he's even taken charge.

If rumours are to be believed, then the Merseyside outfit are already looking at some big-money and big-name players in this window, with Iraola tasked with making Liverpool title contenders again.

The big positive of a disappointing 2025-26 campaign was that they did secure Champions League football following the fifth-placed finish, and now they need a squad that can compete strongly on both fronts.

The attack needs to be a key focus for the recruitment team following Salah's exit, as well as the fact that Hugo Ekitike is unlikely to be available until 2027 after suffering a ruptured Achilles.

Liverpool Hold Talks for Bradley Barcola

Liverpool's top winger target is RB Leipzig sensation Yan Diomande and, according to Fabrizio Romano, the club is really pushing to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield as Salah's successor.

The Italian journalist claims that the Reds have made an important salary offer to the player, while GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs says that Liverpool chiefs are confident that the player wants to make the switch to Anfield amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

However, according to TEAMtalk, both Liverpool and Premier League champions Arsenal have been spoken to about a potential move for PSG attacker Bradley Barcola.

GMS sources have revealed that the 23-year-old is 'very high' on Liverpool's list, although Diomande is the top target and the deal they are making progress on.

Some reports out of Germany have claimed that PSG value the France international at up to €130m (£112m).

Barcola is Even Better Than Diomande

Diomande is being tracked by the biggest clubs in Europe for a reason, and it is because of how good an all-rounder he is as a winger.

The 19-year-old has explosive pace, can beat his full-back using his skill and he can press. He is backing up his build-up play with great goal contribution numbers too.

What is also impressive is the fact that he isn't afraid to help out defensively too, despite his tender years.

However, Barcola is in a different league at both players' stages of their careers.

Diomande has 46 senior club appearances to his name in his career, whereas Barcola has made 200 for Lyon and PSG.

39 goals and 37 assists in 152 outings for PSG shows the output he is capable of, while the Frenchman has played a big part in the two Champions League trophy wins and the three Ligue 1 title victories.

Barcola has the consistency and experience to make an instant impact for Liverpool, and that's what is needed right now.
