Liverpool striker Alexander Isak delivered a timely reminder to Andoni Iraola of what he can do as he scored and assisted (twice) at the FIFA World Cup in Sweden 5-1 Tunisia

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak scored for Sweden earlier as they beat Tunisia 5-1 at the World Cup. He also got two assists and was named the Man of the Match.
Partly as a result of Isak's performance, Graham Potter's side is already well-placed to qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament with fixtures against the Netherlands and Japan to come. While those games will be much harder, the best third-placed teams progress, and Sweden has racked up a big goal difference.
Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres was also on the scoresheet. Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari netted twice, and Mattias Svanberg of Wolfsburg also found the back of the net.
In his debut season at Liverpool, Isak was unable to leave much of a mark because of a lack of match sharpness and a broken leg, which he sustained during the act of scoring against Tottenham in December.
But Isak now looks much fitter and sharper and with a full summer to follow the World Cup, he should be able to hit the ground running at the start of next term.
Having arrived from Newcastle, he is already Premier League proven and it is no exaggeration to suggest that he could be 'like a new signing' for Liverpool next season should he stay fit, given he played so little during 2025/26.

New head coach Andoni Iraola will need to get the best out of Isak when he takes over.
But the 26-year-old forward has the quality to be worth several points on his own with his elite finishing ability, as he has shown a couple of times for his country of late.
Isak scored a great goal for Sweden against Norway earlier in the month. His talent has never been in doubt, but his fitness has been a problem ever since he signed for Liverpool for a British-record $169 million (£125 million).
"Fantastic," Sweden boss Potter told ITV Sport at the final whistle.

"Great goals, five goals, solid and we could have scored more. It was brilliant, full credit to the players. They were fantastic.
"It [their goal] came from not that much really. It can happen in football. The boys remained calm and maintained a goal threat which was important for us. There is room to improve. We will enjoy tonight, recover and get ready again."
Liverpool.com says: Isak could be worth another 10 points in the league for the Reds if can stay fit next season. He really is that good and should show why Liverpool paid so much for him in the next few months.
