President confirms player’s London trip to join Chelsea on June 26th – Blues already secure agreement

FC Kairat president Kairat Boranbayev has confirmed Dastan Satpayev will move to Chelsea later this month.

In February 2025, the Kazakhstan Premier League winners confirmed they’d reached an agreement with Chelsea for the 17-year-old’s transfer.

He will soon turn 18 years of age and will then be eligible to make a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Operating mainly as a No.9 and left winger, he scored nine goals and contributed three assists from 27 matches this season. Last October, Boranbayev said the west London club have secured a rising star, who has been their best player of the season.

Alonso already studied incoming Chelsea man

The Premier League side have appointed Xabi Alonso as their manager for next season.

He will return to the bench for the first time since leaving Real Madrid in January. During his time in Spain, Los Blancos secured a 5-0 win over FC Kairat in September 2025.

Kairat Boranbayev has revealed Alonso informed him he’d studied Dastan Satpayev in detail for the European clash. He mentioned the incoming Chelsea player on Nursultan Kurman’s podcast and Sports24.kz have relayed his comments.

“After the match against Real Madrid, we spoke with Alonso. He said that before flying to Almaty, they had studied Satpaev very closely. Alonso knows his capabilities. Let’s hope that Dastan secures a spot in Chelsea’s first team,” he said.

The Club World Cup winners will travel to Australia and Asia for the pre-season tour in July and August. The FC Kairat president confirms Satpayev will make a trip to London with his mother later this month.

“Dastan has been given a few days off and will fly to London with his mother on June 26th,” Boranbayev explained.

Chelsea have decision to make

Dastan Satpayev will only be able to register for Chelsea after he turns 18 years of age on August 12th.

After that, the Kazakhstan international has to obtain a work permit to play in the UK. If not, he’ll have to go out on loan.

Even if he secures a work permit, Chelsea could loan him out to gain experience. In this case, the final decision would rest with Xabi Alonso and his new club.
