Liverpool’s final renewal offer accepted, contract signed – Announcement on way

Keyrol Figueroa has committed his long-term future to Liverpool after signing an extension.

Figueroa joined Liverpool’s academy on a free transfer in 2018, after a spell at FC Dallas.

He climbed through their ranks and was part of Liverpool U21s this season. The striker is yet to make his first team debut, but Arne Slot had him on the bench in the EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in October.

Figueroa has played 16 matches for the Reds’ U21 this season, scoring 12 goals. His performances helped him make debut for Honduras’ senior team in their 2-0 friendly defeat to Argentina earlier this month.

The 19-year-old’s contract expires on June 30th. The Reds confirmed they’ve offered him an extension when revealing their retained list earlier this month.

Liverpool’s final offer key

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Honduras that there’s expectations for his agent to sort out the final details of the renewal.

Deportes TVC covered this report and have now come up with a fresh update on Keyrol Figueroa’s future.

They claim the youngster has signed a new contract at Liverpool. However, the outlet isn’t aware of the details like the duration, salary etc. He signed it after making his senior debut for the national team on July 7th.

Deportes TVC state: ‘Liverpool’s final offer reflects the striker’s sustained growth in the youth ranks, where he has earned the respect of coaches through his goals and consistent performance.’

The frontman accepted the final renewal offer and the Anfield club have to make this official. That’s the only step pending.

Our take: Liverpool’s plan would be key

Earlier this year, Sport Witness relayed news of New York Red Bulls, Charlotte FC and Elche CF having interest in Keyrol Figueroa.

The Reds took action to retain him, and their final offer has been accepted. Their plan, both for the short and the medium term, has convinced him.

There’s no indication whether Andoni Iraola will include the striker in his plans or whether he will go out on loan this summer.

Liverpool would have already discussed this, and their stance could be made public in the coming weeks.
