Elliot Anderson to Man City transfer fee sparks fear among Premier League rivals

Nottingham Forest are demanding more than £120million to sell England midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, who've already seen two eye-watering bids rejected

Premier League clubs are worried that Elliot Anderson's potential £130million move to Manchester City would inflate the transfer market. City's second offer worth a staggering £120m was rejected by Nottingham Forest last week.

Anderson, 23, is currently in the United States preparing to start England's World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday. But the prospect of him returning to the UK as a City player later this summer has sparked fear among their rivals.

The Telegraph report that Premier League clubs fear a knock-on effect if Anderson joins City for more than eight times the £15m which Forest paid his former club, Newcastle, in 2024. The midfielder, who's keen on a move to the Etihad, has just eight England caps to his name and is yet to play in the Champions League.

One deal that could be affected is Arsenal's pursuit of Morgan Rogers. Insiders believe that Aston Villa will raise their asking price for 23-year-old Rogers in line with Forest's.

Unlike Anderson, Rogers has scored a Champions League hat-trick, won the Europa League with Villa last season, and boasts 13 England caps. Both United and Chelsea are also interested in the playmaker.

Villa don't want to sell Rogers but could be forced into a big sale to avoid another breach of UEFA's financial rules. Anderson's team-mate at Forest, Morgan Gibbs-White, is another star who's the subject of interest this summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez is angling for a departure. Chelsea have slapped a £120m price tag on Fernandez amid interest from Real Madrid.

It was the Blues who broke the British transfer record in January 2023 by signing Fernandez for £106.8m. Since then, Arsenal have paid £105m for Declan Rice, while Liverpool have shelled out £115m on [Florian Wirtz](http://Florian Wirtz) as well as £125m on Isak.

Premier League clubs spent a combined £3.087billion in last summer's transfer window. That eclipsed the previous record of £2.36b which was set in 2023.
