Ruben Amorim is back in football management.
After leaving Manchester United as one of the worst managers in history, based on his win/loss record, the Portuguese tactician is set to land on his feet with a move to one of the world’s most prestigious clubs.
And it could also provide a financial boost to Manchester United.
You see, when The Red Devils fired Ruben Amorim, they had to pay him a compensation fee to cover the remaining duration of his contract.
However, when a manager takes over at a new club, that compensation gets recalculated as they’re able to continue their employment elsewhere.
So the Manchester United hierarchy will be keen to see a club hire Ruben Amorim and ease some of the expense they’ve spent.
And news from Portugal has emerged with details of the contract agreed by Amorim to return to club management.
A Bola report that Ruben Amorim has agreed a two year plus one contract to join Serie A giants AC Milan.
The Portuguese newspaper reports that the former Manchester United head coach did not plan on returning to any dugout this season, but the proposal from one of the clubs he supported as a child was too good to turn down.
Ruben Amorim will be paid a reported €3.5m per season with bonuses for winning titles and UEFA Champions League qualification.
Amorim is just waiting for a final approval from the AC Milan owners before leaving to go to Italy and sign the contract.
Milan fired Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the 2025/26 season when AC Milan finished fifth in Serie A and had to settle for a UEFA Europa League place instead.
Ruben Amorim will be hoping that his time in Milan will mirror the success he achieved at Sporting CP rather than his tenure at Old Trafford.
