Bradley Barcola is pushing to leave PSG this summer, with the latest Arsenal transfer news suggesting the Gunners are among the frontrunners to sign the French winger.
PSG future of Bradley Barcola looks uncertain
The 23-year-old had a decent run of games for PSG last season, making 21 league starts and featuring in 16 Champions League matches, as per FOTMOB. But things took a turn in the final weeks of the campaign. He was left out of the starting lineup for the Champions League final against Arsenal in Budapest, coming on only as a late substitute. That decision appears to have been the breaking point, leaving Barcola deeply unhappy with his standing at the club.
As reported by TEAMtalk, PSG have publicly insisted that Barcola is not for sale this summer. But the French club is now thought to be holding out for a fee of around £100 million, and his deal at the Parc des Princes still runs until June 2028. Talks over a new contract have gone cold. Pushed to his limit, Barcola has now formally told the club he wants to leave.
Bradley Barcola’s stats this season,as per FOTMOB:
Competition Matches Goals Assists
Ligue 1 29 11 1
UCL 16 2 4
FIFA Club WC 6 0 2
Arsenal and Liverpool lead the Premier League race
As reported by Goal, Arsenal are pushing hard to sign Bradley Barcola this summer, with sporting director Andrea Berta in regular contact with his camp over a deal. Mikel Arteta wants a proven winger who can deliver on the big stage. He scored 13 goals and set up seven more in 49 games for PSG last season, which is exactly the output Arsenal have been lacking on the flanks. The Gunners have looked at Morgan Rogers and Christos Tzolis too, but neither brings the Champions League experience that Barcola already has.
Liverpool may actually need a wide attacker more than Arsenal do right now. Mohamed Salah has left the club, and that gap on the right flank is very hard to fill. The Reds have held talks over RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but Barcola is a different kind of football player altogether.
PSG eye Ferran Torres as potential replacement
As reported by Goal, PSG say Barcola is going nowhere, but the club is already making plans in case he does leave. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Luis Enrique wants Barcelona’s Ferran Torres as his top choice if Barcola gets his move. The two know each other well from their time with the Spanish national team. Barcelona’s financial struggles mean PSG believe they can structure a deal for Torres at a reasonable price, with his contract at the club running out in 2027.
Either way, PSG are getting ready to move on without Barcola. The World Cup in North America is now underway, and clubs will hold off on big transfer calls until France wrap up their group games. Deschamps has named Barcola in his squad, but the winger still needs to fight for a starting spot. He is in a straight fight with fellow PSG star Desire Doue for the left wing berth. As reported by ESPN, France kick off their Group I campaign against Senegal on June 16, then take on Iraq on June 22 and Norway on June 26.
This World Cup comes at a huge moment in Barcola’s career. A strong run in Group I could push Deschamps to start him, and give Arsenal and Liverpool a live look at the player they plan to spend over £100 million on. A big tournament could be all it takes to end the transfer talk for good, with both Premier League clubs ready to move the moment France’s campaign concludes.
