Although he isn’t their first-choice forward target this summer, Bayern Munich have taken early steps in their pursuit of Marcus Rashford.
The Bundesliga giants have approached Manchester United to presumably establish their interest while also gauging how a potential deal may look.
Why Bayern are interested in Rashford
Bayern added Rashford, 28, to their shortlist after Barcelona completed a shock £70 million acquisition of Anthony Gordon, who had been heavily linked with a switch to the Allianz Arena in recent months.

In turn, it also meant that the Blaugrana had essentially replaced Rashford, meaning they would not be activating his £26m buy clause.

The forward, valued at £35m by Transfermarkt, now faces a hugely uncertain future ahead of his loan spell officially expiring at the end of the month.
Alas, Bayern are staying attentive to Rashford’s situation.
Rashford’s full focus is on the World Cup
Any firm negotiations with the player will have to wait until England’s World Cup campaign has finished, and he’ll be hoping he’s done enough to earn a start for the Three Lions’ group-stage opener against Croatia on Wednesday night.

When his international duties are wrapped up, Rashford will return to Carrington to begin his pre-season while the board explore an alternative move for him.
If all else fails, there is a chance that he resumes his Red Devils career, given he’s contracted to his boyhood club until 2029.
Rashford and Bayern: What’s the latest?
Speaking on the Rashford saga on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that talks had taken place between Bayern and United.
“Some of you are asking me if Bayern is a possibility. My understanding is that there were some calls from Bayern in the past two to three weeks to understand the situation of Marcus Rashford,” said the Italian.
Romano went on to add that Bayern do, however, view PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari, whom they’ve just reached an agreement for, as a more suitable and cost-effective option.
