Man Utd Have“Genuine Interest”In Signing 4 Cap International With“Active”Talks Being Held With His Entourage

Man Utd have been having “active” conversations with people “close to” Newcastle defender Lewis Hall in recent days, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the Red Devils have a “genuine interest” in the 4-cap England international, but it doesn’t appear that a bid is imminent:

“Over the last two, three days, Man United kept the contacts alive and active with those close to Lewis Hall, the left back from Newcastle. Manchester United already made contact a few weeks ago.”

“Manchester United have genuine interest in the player. They really like Lewis Hall, so he’s one of the targets. After Ederson, one more midfielder – at least, it could be two, we will see – but one more midfielder will join Manchester United. Then, left back remains a position they want to cover. Lewis Hall is a player they really, really love at Manchester United.”

Man Utd’s priority is the midfield

While Director of Football Jason Wilcox wants a new left-back, it appears a move for Hall is on the back burner for the time being.

Adding a second midfielder, following the arrival of Ederson from Atalanta, is thought to be the priority, and it looks like an approach for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes could be made soon.

The Hammers are holding firm on their £80m+ valuation, and we shall have to see where United’s opening proposal lands in terms of price (if and when the offer is made).

Newcastle will not let Hall go without a fight

While the player seems to be keen on a switch to Old Trafford, negotiations with his club may not be straightforward.

Reports suggest that the Magpies value Hall in excess of £60m. They spent £28m (plus £7m in add-ons) to secure his services on a permanent basis from Chelsea in the summer of 2024.
