Twist: "Great" Liverpool player now "wants to stay" at Anfield this summer - journalist

**Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa now “wants to stay” put at the club beyond the summer transfer window, according to a fresh claim.**

The Italian has had two seasons with the Reds, but despite being a popular figure among the supporters, he has never managed to be a regular starter.

For that reason, a summer exit has looked on the cards for Chiesa, with a return to his homeland a possibility, and a potential reunion with former club Juventus.

But now, writing on [_X_](https://x.com/_Morik92_/status/2066139713212194943?s=20) on Sunday, _Tutto Juve_ journalist Mirko Di Natale has claimed that the 28-year-old wants to remain at Liverpool and prove himself under Andoni Iraola, in a new twist:

_“Federico Chiesa wants to stay at Liverpool. Beyond the links to Italian clubs like Como and Juventus, the player is determined to earn a starting spot with the new coach Iraola. Only the decision to put him on the market could change the current situation.”_

**Liverpool should look to sell Federico Chiesa this summer**

-------------------------------------------------------------

There is a lot to admire about Chiesa, both as a footballer and as a character, with [Arne Slot](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/arne-slot-federico-chiesa-liverpool-jurgen-klopp-italy-b2754367.html) praising him during their time working together:

_“The biggest quality Federico has is scoring goals. So the more you get him in and around the box, the bigger chance it is for him to score. He got a good chance just before Mo had his big chance. For him to have an open shot from the 18-yard box is for Federico a very good chance because he’s such a great finisher.”_

But despite this, Liverpool would still be wise to cash in on Chiesa this summer, even though they admittedly wouldn’t receive much of a fee for him.

He has shown over two years that he doesn’t possess the quality and fitness levels to be a major asset for the Reds, with injury problems arguably catching up with him.

Chiesa staying put at Liverpool would be no disaster, but it is hard to see Iraola considering him an important part of his plans, especially with wingers such as Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola being linked with moves to Merseyside.
