Inter Milan are reportedly gearing up to make a fresh offer to sign Curtis Jones, with Nottingham Forest set to play a role in this transfer’s progression.
One of the most unfortunate aspects of Arne Slot’s failed second season at Anfield is that it looks set to cost Liverpool their only senior Scouser, with Jones actively seeking a move to the San Siro this summer.
The midfielder (25) has never been an established starter for Liverpool, and now, given his age, he needs to move on from his hometown to find the regular minutes he is seeking.
I’m sure being excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup will also be a factor behind this decision.
Liverpool don't want to lose Curtis Jones this summer amid open transfer interest from Inter Milan, but would reluctantly sanction his sale if he were to ask for a move and a suitable offer is on the table. The midfielder is valued at around £35m.

Latest Inter Milan activity in Curtis Jones pursuit and Nottingham Forest’s involvement
Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is potentially set to join Nottingham Forest, which may give Inter the funds needed to bridge the gap between the offers they’ve made Liverpool and the Reds’ asking price of around £30m.
According to TuttoSport, Frattesi will certainly leave Inter Milan this summer and is open to joining Forest. This will help the Serie A outfit in funding a move to sign Jones.
The Italian newspaper reports that an initial bid for Jones was rejected by Liverpool, with their €20m (£17m) bid considered insufficient, although the Merseysiders are willing to accept €30m (£26m).
Inter Milan, true to their frugal ways, are reportedly set to counter with a bid of €25m (£21m). They will also offer Liverpool a ‘good’ resale fee, which is one of the conditions FSG have been trying to negotiate for a few weeks now. TuttoSport reports that this offer may be given the ‘green light’ from the Liverpool owners.

In this game of transfer dominoes, Nottingham Forest signing Frattesi for €25m would allow the necessary pieces to fall into place for the sale of Jones.
Why are Liverpool allowing Jones to leave for a low fee?
Not only is Jones pushing for a summer exit despite the arrival of Andoni Iraola, but his contract expires on 30 June 2027, which means this is realistically the last window Liverpool can sell him.

With so many players allowed to leave on free transfers this year and recent years past, Liverpool cannot allow him to leave without recouping a fee so £25-£30m is the maximum they can expect from selling him.
