As well as Hall: Man Utd set sights on prolific Englishman who was controversially left out of Tuchel’s World Cup squad

Manchester United are said to be among a handful of clubs sizing up a swoop for Nottingham Forest talisman Morgan Gibbs-White.

That’s according to CaughtOffside, which adds that the Red Devils have joined Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in monitoring the player’s situation.

Morgan Gibbs-White: The state of play

The latter almost completed a deal for Gibbs-White last summer, when they activated his £60 million release clause and had his medical scheduled to swiftly get the transfer over the line.

That was until Forest pursued legal action over how Spurs approached the agreement, as well as how they found out the exact fee of the midfielder’s exit clause.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis also personally intervened by holding talks with Gibbs-White, eventually facilitating an improved, club-record contract to keep him tied to the City Ground until 2028.

Is Gibbs-White likely to be on the move?

Now, after a tumultuous term culminated with Forest finishing 16th, Gibbs-White is being linked with a move elsewhere, presumably to a side where he can add to his European experience after playing in the Europa League last season.

In addition, the 26-year-old will be feeling immensely aggrieved at the fact that he was omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad last month.

Gibbs-White was one of the most in-form English players in the top flight throughout 2025/2026, having returned a hugely impressive 15 goals and four assists in 37 appearances.

He really could not have done any more to earn a spot, so he will perhaps be wondering whether he’d have been included had he been playing for one of the division’s ‘Big Six’.

Aside from the Wolverhampton Wanderers graduate, the Red Devils are also monitoring Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.
